Beclomethasone dipropionate (IUPAC: 11β,17α,21-trihydroxy-9α-fluoro-17,21-bis[(1-oxopropan-2-yl)oxy]pregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione), molecular formula C28H34O7 (molecular weight 490.56 g/mol), is a synthetic glucocorticoid. Structurally, it features a fluorinated 17α-hydroxypregna-1,4-diene backbone with propionate esters at C17 and C21. Therapeutically, it is a potent anti-inflammatory agent used in asthma and COPD. It is a white, crystalline solid with low water solubility and high lipophilicity.
