Bisacodyl, IUPAC name 1,5-dihydroxy-3-[(2-methylpropyl)amino]-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,5-benzodiazepine, is a stimulant laxative with molecular formula C17H16N2O5 and molecular weight 328.32 g/mol. Structurally, it belongs to the anthranilic acid derivatives, featuring a benzodiazepine core with hydroxyl and amino groups. It is a white to off-white crystalline solid, slightly water-soluble, with a melting point of 160โ165ยฐC.
