6 impuritiess available on this parent drug

Clobazam (IUPAC: 2-Chloro-N-(2-chlorophenyl)benzamide) is a benzodiazepine derivative with molecular formula C12H8Cl2NO2 (molecular weight: 285.11 g/mol). Structurally, it features a fused benzene and diazepine ring system with a 2-chlorophenyl substituent. Therapeutically, it is used as an anticonvulsant for managing partial and generalized seizures. It is a white crystalline solid, sparingly soluble in water, with a melting point of 144โ€“147ยฐC. Mechanistically, Clobazam enhances GABAergic neurotransmission by potentiating GABA-A receptor activity, increasing chloride ion influx and neuronal hyperpolarization, thereby reducing seizure activity.
