Colchicine, IUPAC name (1S,2R,4R,5S,6R,7R,8S,9R)-9-acetyl-6-(hydroxymethyl)-4,5-dihydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,7-dimethyl-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10-decahydro-1H-isoquinoline-3-one, is a C22H25NO6 isoquinoline alkaloid with a molecular weight of 399.44 g/mol. It features a tetracyclic ring system with a sulfide bridge and hydroxyl groups. Clinically used for gout and familial Mediterranean fever, colchicine exhibits low water solubility and high lipophilicity.
