Eslicarbazepine, IUPAC name (2S)-2-ethyl-5-oxo-5-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-4-yl)carbamic acid ethyl ester, is an anticonvulsant with molecular formula C15H16N2O3S and molecular weight 312.37 g/mol. Structurally, it belongs to the carbamate class, featuring a thiazole ring fused to a carbamate moiety. Therapeutically, it is used as an adjunctive treatment for partial-onset seizures. Physicochemically, it is a white to off-white solid with good aqueous solubility and a melting point of 140–145°C.
