1 impurities available on this parent drug

Fenofibric acid (IUPAC name: 4-chloro-4'-(p-hydroxyphenoxy)benzoyl isovalerate; molecular formula C14H13ClO4, molecular weight 280.7 g/mol) is a fibrate-class lipid-regulating agent. Structurally, it features a chlorobenzoyl and phenoxy group linked to an isovaleryl chain. Therapeutically, it targets hypertriglyceridemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is a white solid with low aqueous solubility (pKa ~4.5) and moderate lipophilicity. Mechanistically, it activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-ฮฑ), enhancing lipoprotein lipase activity and reducing hepatic very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) synthesis.
