Desfuroyl Ceftiofur is a structurally modified cephalosporin derivative lacking the furoyl side chain present in the parent drug Ceftiofur. It retains the core beta-lactam-thiazole scaffold with a 7-aminocephalosporanic acid backbone, substituted by a desfuroylated acyl group and a sulfamoyl moiety at the C-3 position. The absence of the furan ring alters its hydrophobicity and hydrogen-bonding capacity, rendering it a specific synthetic byproduct formed during Ceftiofur's acylation process.
