Gestodene EP Impurity B is a structurally related synthetic byproduct arising from the partial hydrogenation of the parent compound's A-ring during Gestodene synthesis. It retains the 19-nor-17α-pregnane scaffold but features a fully saturated cyclohexane ring in place of the aromatic A-ring, coupled with a 17β-hydroxy group and a 3-oxo-Δ4 moiety. This impurity lacks the conjugated double bond critical for Gestodene's progestogenic activity, rendering it inert pharmacologically.
