Isosorbide Dinitrate is a 1,4:3,6-dianhydro-D-sorbitol derivative featuring two nitrate ester groups at the 5- and 5’-hydroxyl positions of the bicyclic diol core. This compound arises via oxidative nitration of Isosorbide, introducing electron-withdrawing nitrooxy moieties that enhance metabolic instability.
